Program Information
Upon attending our January concert, Ambassador Christian Prosl was so impressed that he told the choir "You MUST perform at the Embassy!" The choir was more than happy to honor his request, and on April 27, they will pay tribute to the Ambassador, who is in the final year of diplomatic service to his beloved Austria. The 18th Street Singers is the DC area's premiere choir of young professionals. In addition to being selected to perform at the 2011 Piccolo Spoleto Festival in Charleston, SC, the group has appeared at such venues and events as the National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony (attended by President Obama), the Music Center at Strathmore, and the Kennedy Center. Join them and Austrian Cultural Forum Director Andrea Schrammel in honoring Ambassador Prosl with a program of choral favorites by Austrian composers, along with a variety of folk songs and American popular and traditional music.
