Audition for the 18th Street Singers

What we're looking for:
Talented people from all musical backgrounds with great voices, excellent intonation, some group singing experience (even if it was a while ago), and some ability to read music.

What to expect:

  • Warming up and vocalizing on a few scales
  • Prepare one page of an SATB piece that will be sent to you in advance after you fill out our audition request form below
  • Prepare an unaccompanied solo of your choosing - it should be about a minute long, and can be classical, pop, jazz, or whatever you like.
  • Auditions will be held at First Trinity Lutheran Church at the corner of 4th and E St. NW, less than a block from the Judiciary Square metro station.

The commitment:

  • We rehearse every Monday night 7:00-9:30 in Judiciary Square, from September to early June.
  • Our year is divided in two seasons, fall and spring. We perform a major concert at the end of each season, usually in January and June. Participation in the final concert is required for membership for that season.
  • On average, we have 2-3 additional smaller performances each season. These gigs are not required, but expected if you're available.
  • We hold one weekend retreat each season, traditionally within 2-3 hours of DC. The choir covers housing and food costs for the weekend, and members carpool to and from the retreat location.
  • There are no dues required.
